Hmm...big week. Not really helpful when I already have loads to catch up on. I was pondering on getting Worlds Finest #2 but the first issue was very average and not really too exciting, with a big week like this, it's facing the chopping block I'm afraid. I was planning on dropping Secret Warriors too, as the last arc has not really been as good as the first and I cant get to like the characters enough, only Fury. With my list getting bigger each week that book was going to be another drop, until I saw the preview over at CBR that is and it just looked awesome. Check it here.

I'm a sucker for old mythological tales and the book starts with a cool one and this issue looks like it could be the big showdown between Ares and his son, so it's now back on the list...for this issue at least.

Marvel previews - Comics on sale 09/23/09!

Checking the previews I was really happy to find that Immortal Weapons #3 is drawn by the brilliant Tom Green II. He previously did a great stand alone issue in the Iron Fist series about a futuristic Iron Fist and it was awesome work. He also penciled a previous Star-Lord mini series prior to Guardians of the Galaxy and again it looked great, his style is so unique.

Great Wolverine week next week. Wolverine Origins #40 is the conclusion to the “Romulus” arc which has been pretty good, but I really hope we get some answers, and it doesn’t lead into some other storyline. I mean I think Romulus was first mention in Wolverine 50 a couple of years ago. The mystery has gone on long enough. I want to know who Romulus really is, i.e. some history about him, and why he keeps messing with Logan.

The “Old Man Logan” conclusion is also here, and again the artwork looks fantastic. I’m sure this issue will be all out mayhem, I can’t wait to read that one.

Checking the preview for Uncanny X-Men #515 I see Greg Land is back on art unfortunately, so I probably wait this story arc out until Dobson returns on the next one.
Spider-Woman.... well, I'm on the fence about that one, but the art does look really dark and beautiful. You guys picking it up?

I love that freaky cover. Creeps me out. I’m sure the main story will be as good as ever, I just hope the Manhunter back up gets better this issue, it’s the worst back up story from DC I’ve read so far.

Astonishing X-Men - The Motion Comic: Trailer


In my opinion and a large amount of X-fans, one of the best X-Men comics in recent history is without a doubt Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon (Buffy: The Vampire Slayer) and renowned artist John Cassaday (Planetary).

Their fantastic run lasted for 25 issues and Marvel recently announced that the first chapter (Gifted) will be Marvel’s newest motion comic (available October 28 on iTunes). And best of all you can get a first look at the trailer right now by clicking the below link.

Personally I think it looks pretty awesome. I haven’t checked out Marvel’s first motion comic; Spider-Woman yet, but plan on doing so very shortly. If any of you guys have seen it, please let me know how it is.

So how do you guys think this X-Men motion picture looks? Will you be buying/ watching them, or sticking to the comics?

DC Previews

There’s a couple of nice previews over at The Source for you DC fans.

First up a preview of Flash Rebirth #4. I stopped picking up this title after the second issue as I wasn’t really enjoying it. I’m normally a big fan of Johns work but ironically for a Flash book I found this was really slow at moving the story along. I’m not really a Flash fan though so that might be another reason I didn’t enjoy it. I’ll see what the reaction to the title as a whole is once it’s finished and if its’ good I might pick up the trade. Anyway, you can check the preview here.


Next up is JSA #30. The last issue was really good with the JSA getting their butts kicked by a group of super-villains so I look forward to reading the issue this week to find out what happens next. Check the preview here.

18 FUCKING BOOKS! FUCK ME!

Man that is a lot of comics, I was worried about how I could afford to buy all them books but I just found out I’m being paid this Friday, instead of the usual end of the month as next Monday is a Bank Holiday here in England. So basically this means I should have enough money this week to see me through to pay day and to pick up all the comics I want. But damn, maybe I should start cutting back…..nah, fuck that!

I’m really looking forward to Batman & Robin 3, seems like a long time since the last issue. Batman the Widening Gyre is a maybe for me. I loved Kevin Smith work on Green Arrow but his last Batman mini-series wasn’t that great, so maybe I’ll check the reviews on that and get it next week. Superman #691 will have the last chapter of Codename: Patriot, so I look forward to seeing if and how that will shake up Superman’s world. Finally I’m looking forward to Greg Pak back on Incredible Hulk along with one of my fav artists right now Ariel Olivetti, who I think was born to draw that book. Let’s hope it meets my expectations.
