Birthday Post - We're gonna party like it's 1983!

So I'm 26 today (unfortunately), and it got me wondering about what was happening in our favourite comic books 26 years ago in 1983, the year I was born. How different were things in the Marvel U and DCU back then compared to now? Perhaps not so different at all, in fact it seems a certain Geoff Johns may be very fond of some of the DC issues released this year! Have a look below at some covers from our favourite titles released back in 1983 to see for yourselves. I think I picked some cool covers so I hope you enjoy them too. And please let me know if you own any of these books, I'd love to know some more about the stories inside. Enjoy.

  1. Happy B-day Matt! Here's to many more!

I've got a few of those comics(Avengers, Uncanny, FF, New Mutants), but as you can see I don't have any DC books from that year, my DC collection is lacking bigtime prior to 1990. The thing I really get out of looking back at those covers is that I really miss the old Avengers and X-titles... Just check out the X-Men/Avengers teams back then.

Damn, you're 100% right about Geoff and the books released that year! This must have been the year that really got him hooked.

  2. Happy (very belated) Birthday, Hex.

  3. Hey Hex, happy birthday. Now that you're 26, are there any aged pearls of wisdom you want to drop on everyone?

This was a hilarious post, mostly for the fact that a lot of these plots are being reused to this very day. "There is nothing new under the sun"

I hope your birthday was a good one!
